The top 100 stock market millionaires have different responses to being listed as the richest people in Vietnam.
Doan Toi, the 5th richest man: As soon as I found out, I had to turn off my mobile phone
My first action after seeing that I was listed among the 100 stock market millionaires was turning off my mobile phone, because I guessed people would call and say congratulations. I feel more worried than happy

My wife grumbled when hearing that I was among the richest people in Vietnam. We are worried about our and our children’s security. We want my children to have a normal life

In fact, I have worked hard to get where I am today. My staff understand this and they have been trying to contact me to say congratulations.

My life somewhat resembles the life of a farmer in An Giang province. We process shrimp and fish. In my spare time, I go to parties with my friends. I have a Honda Accord which I have been driving since 1997. Sometimes I drive a Mercedes S500. There is nothing special about my life.

Dang Thanh Tam, the richest man in Vietnam: I have nothing to worry about, because I have gotten here legally.

Mr. Tam said the most important job now for him is to manage his companies well. Unlike other people who hate to see their names in newspapers, Mr. Tam was calm upon hearing the news that he has become the richest of the stock market millionaires.

“I have four children, and they all are small. I hope that one of them can take over my business when he grows up,” Mr. Tam said.

He does not think that his biggest success in 2007 was becoming the richest person in Vietnam. He is proud that other investors trust and cooperate with him. Besides, he successfully lured Taiwanese Foxconn to Vietnam, which brought $5bil.

Pham Trung Cang, Deputy Chairman of ACB, the 76th richest man: All information about me can be found on the bank’s prospectus

Mr Cang said the information about his total shares and holdings have been made public, so it is no use to try and hide it, adding that he does not feel worried when people whisper and comment about his wealth. However, he asked not to post his picture or pictures of his family for security reasons.

Dang Van Thanh, Chairman of Sacombank said happily that the listing and announcement of richest people is recognition of a person’s successes and contributions.

Meanwhile, other listed millionaires are not happy that newspapers reported on them, asking to be removed from the list.

“I can give the exact number of the shares I’m holding, but I hope that you will not publish the information,” said a chairman of a group.

One of the stock market millionaires violently protested the listing of millionaires’ names by the mass media. He said that the life of his family will change, and people will look at him differently
