| The Czech Republic’s first Vietnamese style temple, Thien An Buddhist pagoda, opened last week in the northern Czech province of Varnsdorf. |
The pagoda, which was completed in September last year, will also serve as a Vietnamese culture and language teaching centre for the Czech Vietnamese community. The Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Vuong Thua Phong, and local authorities attended the ceremony. An overseas Vietnamese who had lived in the Czech Republic for 15 years said the opening was a great event for the community because Buddhism was not only a religion but a part of his culture.
